Its members are trained, licensed operators who help fill gaps when phone, internet, or public safety systems fall short, especially during severe weather and wildfire activity in western Kansas.

This grant allows the group to add two linked digital repeaters in Trego and Rush counties, creating a wider, more reliable coverage area. The expanded network will give spotters and emergency officials better real time information, improve warning lead times, and provide a platform for member training and everyday use by local radio operators.
