Grant: Youth Initiative Online Courses – Authoring Licenses & Artwork Enhancement
Date: October 2025
Amount: $14,556
AMSAT, the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation, runs the Youth Initiative to help young people explore satellites and amateur radio through free, community based learning materials. Its KidzSat and BuzzSat programs offer openly accessible content that families, youth leaders, and educators can use without needing school involvement. All materials are created by volunteers and shared at no cost.
This project supports the development of fourteen BuzzSat online courses that explain how satellites help us in everyday life. Funding covers two software licenses used to build the lessons and improvements to artwork that make complex ideas easier for students to visualize. The courses will be published online as they are completed and will remain free to download, reuse, and adapt. The work will strengthen AMSAT’s broader effort to spark curiosity about satellite technology and introduce more youth to amateur radio.
