Grant: Remote HF Station for Education and Youth Engagement

Date: August 2025
Amount: $34,169

Thanet Radio Infrastructure Group works with the Hilderstone Radio Society and local schools to support youth education across East Kent in the UK. The group delivers hands-on STEM outreach for children and young people, with a focus on practical learning through radio, electronics, and space-related activities.

With this funding, the group will build and deploy a high-performance remote HF radio station for education and youth engagement. The station will give schools, youth groups, and educators access to HF radio without the need for on-site antennas. It will also provide young operators with free, supervised access to HF. The project expands educational reach, improves learning quality, and creates a reusable national resource for youth-focused amateur radio engagement.
