Grant: CHRS Summer Camp

Date: March 2026
Amount: $4,050

The California Historical Radio Society (CHRS) is a nonprofit based in Alameda, California that preserves and teaches the history and technology of radio, wireless communication, and electronic media. Through its museum, amateur radio station, and hands-on programs, CHRS focuses on experiential learning and expanding access to electronics and communication education.

This project will fund six full scholarships for students in grades 6-10 to attend CHRS’s Electronics and Wireless Communications Summer Camp. Students will learn the basics of electronics, radio fundamentals, and wireless communication through hands-on activities like soldering, building circuits, and working with radio equipment. The program also includes a final showcase where students present what they built and learned. The goal is to remove financial barriers and give underserved students access to practical STEM learning and early exposure to amateur radio.
