Qrp Sponsoring Organization, Inc. (QSO)’s mission is to foster global collaboration and knowledge sharing among amateur radio enthusiasts to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities. Their core emphasis is on the critical role amateur radio plays in natural disaster communication. We aim to provide a vital lifeline during emergencies such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods, where traditional infrastructure often fails. QSO supports the development and dissemination of low-power (QRP) technologies 6, which are essential for resilient and portable communication in disaster-affected communities.

QSO was awarded an ARDC grant to take a popular QRP transceiver kit and update it with a through hole kit and SMD version available. The kits will be optimized for beginners to assemble, equipped with enhanced firmware, and outfitted with emergency-focused features. They will then distribute 60 kits throughout Florida, Puerto Rico, Caribbean, and Central America.
