Oakland Radio Communication Association supports amateur radio emergency communications in Oakland, California. The group works with Oakland’s Office of Emergency Services, ARES/RACES volunteers, and local Emergency Communication Hubs to strengthen community preparedness.

With this grant, ORCA will upgrade the Oakland Emergency Operations Center radio room and add packet/VARA and AREDN mesh capabilities. The project will also build a portable backup repeater system and support eight new Emergency Communication Hubs in underserved areas of Oakland.
