Grant: Operations Trailer

Forsyth County AuxComm, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public safety organization dedicated to providing resilient auxiliary communications. Operating under the FCC issued callsign WS4FC, we serve as a vital “communications bridge” for government public safety entities and national charitable organizations. Their mission is to ensure that when primary networks fail, the “lifeline” of community information remains intact. Their secondary mission is education and expansion of Amateur Radio through relationships with High Schools JROTC units, Scouting, Retirement Centers and other community outreach programs.
Forsyth County AuxComm received a grant to build a mobile communications trailer that functions as a fully integrated, interoperable emergency communications hub. The trailer will allow the club to move from using volunteer-owned, fragmented gear to a standardized, deployable system. The group will use the trailer for disaster response, public events, and training. The training will support new and expanding partnerships with high school JROTC and Scouting units, as well as other community outreach opportunities. In all, they anticipate training 50 new operators annually and using the trailer at 14 events a year, including the local county fair.
