Grant: 4-H Youth Station and Outreach Trailer

Date: December 2021
Amount: $33,900

The Fauquier 4-H Ham Radio Club provides local youth, ages 9 to 18, opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math through amateur radio communications and electronics projects.  Club meetings include hands-on activities and community events.  An amateur radio license is not required to join, but the club strives to inspire and help members who are interested in getting their license achieve that goal.

This grant, fiscally sponsored by the Virginia Tech Foundation, will allow the club to purchase and equip a ham radio trailer for the club’s youth to use at regular meetings, public demonstrations, and special events. This project will enable club members to “learn by doing,” during events such as ARRL Field Day, county fairs, and hamfests and to share their enthusiasm for amateur radio.
