The Harlan County High School Amateur Radio Club, located in Kentucky, has recently been established. Led by the club’s trustee, a geometry teacher with an Extra class license, the club plans to build a portable radio station with a dual band 2m/70cm transceiver, an HF transceiver, a keyer, two portable antennas (one for each transceiver), a power supply, lithium battery, solar panels, charging controller, and a laptop for digital transmission modes. The students will build this station themselves so they can see how everything works together. Literature for studying for studying for all three amateur radio license exams will be available for students to take home and prepare.
