Grant: HF Capabilities for Lincoln Middle/High School Amateur Radio Club

Date: May 2022
Amount: $22,275

Lincoln Middle/High School is part of Western Wayne Schools in Cambridge City, Indiana. When their students showed an interest in amateur radio, two licensed radio amateurs on the staff decided to form an amateur radio club. With help from two local amateur radio clubs, and the availability of a tower on the school grounds, they’re off to a good start!

This grant will allow the club to setup an HF station, a portable HF station, a satellite station, antennas, and HTs for students to use. The club plans to teach a license class and then have students work with the staff and community volunteers to safely install and test the the equipment, build antennas, and participate in amateur radio activities. During the 2022-2023 school year, the station will be used to demonstrate amateur radio to students in all grades throughout the district.
