The Providence Radio Association has been providing educational services to the underserved Providence, RI urban population for over 100 years, including two remote digital HF stations for experimentation and a UHF DMR repeater for emergency services. All systems are free and open to all radio amateurs.
This grant will allow them to improve their UHF digital network, HF internet gateways, and remote digital HF stations. These systems are designed to offer people without expensive radio equipment or ability to erect antennas the ability to use their phones, PCs and low cost radios to access wide area digital emergency networks, work HF, and nurture their interest and involvement in public service and STEM programs and activities.
