The Missouri Valley Amateur Radio Club, Inc. (MVARC) was established in the early 1950s to promote amateur radio and to deploy licensed and trained personnel to local, state, or federal governments in the time of emergency or disaster. In the late 1970s, MVARC entered into a partnership with the Northwest Missouri chapter of the American Red Cross. A club station was built at the Red Cross building to continue the club’s public service and emergency communications mission. In 2011, MVARC merged with the Northwest Missouri ARES Group.
This grant will empower MVARC to upgrade their repeater system and to establish a club station at one of the Heartland Health System hospitals that it supports with emergency communications.
