The Topanga Coalition for Emergency Preparedness (TCEP) is a volunteer-run nonprofit serving Topanga Canyon and nearby areas. This grant will help TCEP upgrade and expand its amateur radio station at the 69B Heliport in the Santa Monica Mountains. The project includes adding space for antennas and equipment to support technologies like frequency-agile remote bases, Winlink gateways, and microwave mesh links. TCEP’s system stayed online during the Palisades Fire, providing critical communications when others failed. The improved facility will support both analog and digital radio across multiple bands and allow TCEP to offer hands-on training in digital radio systems.
