Grant: Hot Springs Amateur Radio Club Education & Repeater Expansion

Date: October 2025
Amount: $11,730

The Hot Springs Amateur Radio Club is expanding its repeater network and education programs to improve communication coverage and support youth licensing. The project installs three new Yaesu DR2X repeaters at Bear Mountain, Edgemont, and Hot Springs, along with antennas, hardline, and linking equipment. These upgrades address major coverage gaps in a region with limited cell service and strengthen support for local Emergency Operations Centers.

The grant also supports youth engagement by covering exam fees, study guides, handheld radios, and first-year memberships. Club members will visit classrooms, mentor students, and host public demonstrations. Outreach includes local advertising, community events, and preparation for a future ARISS school contact.
