The Cal Poly Amateur Radio Club (CPARC) was awarded ARDC funding to upgrade and expand its AREDN mesh network across San Luis Obispo County and nearby areas. This student-led project will improve regional emergency communications by linking to networks in the Bay Area and Los Angeles using high-speed RF backhaul. Upgrades include 802.11AC equipment, solar and battery backups, and public-facing cameras and web access portals. These improvements give students practical experience in radio, networking, and backup power systems.
