Grant: UFB New England System Upgrades

Date: March 2025
Amount: $35,725

UFB New England operates a 24-site C4FM repeater network across Maine and New Hampshire, providing communications for amateur radio operators while also supporting emergency management and public service entities. The grant funds will be used to expand the network by adding a new site in a key area of Maine, as well as to repair and upgrade existing systems to enhance serviceability and stability.

The network spans from southern Maine and New Hampshire to eastern Maine, reaching all the way to the northern tip of Maine and the Canadian border. It serves a broad range of amateur radio users and is available for emergency communication, benefiting several amateur radio clubs across both states. The network is also essential in supporting emergency communication efforts, charity events, weather-related operations like Skywarn, and natural disaster response.

With this grant, UFB New England will extend its coverage into northwest Oxford County, Maine, while also upgrading sites in other locations across Maine and New Hampshire.
