PAREDN (Philippine Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network) is dedicated to building a digital data network across the Philippines. This network will support both emergency and non-emergency communications. The organization also provides expert volunteers who assist local agencies during emergencies. Additionally, PAREDN develops specialized communication teams that can quickly deploy with full communication gear to disaster areas.

The grant will fund the expansion of the network by setting up 5 to 7 additional Winlink/BBS gateways in Metro Manila and surrounding regions. This expansion will improve the ability to provide reliable communication during disasters. It will also address the communication gaps experienced during Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) in 2013.

The new gateways will enhance PAREDN’s readiness for future emergencies. They will also encourage other communities to adopt similar communication solutions. The grant will cover the necessary equipment, including VHF radios, antennas, mini PCs, solar panels, and power supplies. This will accelerate the network’s growth and preparedness for upcoming disasters.
