Grant: Phase II RAQI RTQ Network V2
Date: May 2026
Amount: TBD
La Fédération des clubs radioamateurs du Québec (RAQI) has supported amateur radio operators across the province since 1951. Its mission is to promote interest in radio, offer training and events, and represent amateurs to the government. Today, RAQI is a dynamic and active organization with thousands of members. It regularly organizes events, competitions, and training sessions. It is also involved in public service projects, such as emergency communication in the event of a natural disaster.
Since its establishment, RAQI has built relationships with the Radio Amateur of Canada (RAC) and the Quebec State Government, particularly the Quebec Public Security Ministry. In the early 1980s, a vision became a reality: create an RF trans-provincial network using linked transceivers, giving birth to the RTQ network. Today, this network is used by amateur radio enthusiasts throughout the province of Quebec. While its primary use is for general communication, it also plays a critical role in emergency communications to support the Ministry of Public Security.
Much of the equipment supporting the network is outdated, having been gradually acquired through donations over the years. This network is essential for interconnecting regions across Quebec and serves as a critical communication. This ARDC grant will enable RAQI to address the most urgent repairs and upgrades on the network.
