Youngsters on the Air (YOTA) started as a way for young amateur radio operators to connect, learn, and get on the air with others their own age. YOTA Americas continues that work in IARU Region 2 through region-wide summer camps that bring young hams together for hands-on radio activities, peer-led workshops, and leadership development.

With this grant, YOTA Americas will support its 2026, 2027, and 2028 region-wide camps. The 2026 camp will take place in Huntsville, Alabama, with a space-focused theme. Campers will take part in activities such as kit building, antenna work, satellites, ARDF, contesting, digital modes, high-altitude ballooning, and other hands-on radio workshops.

The grant will help cover camp costs such as lodging, meals, transportation, materials, outreach, and operations. It will also help keep camper fees low and support scholarships when needed, making the camp more accessible to young operators from across the Americas.
