Grant: Amateur Radio Club Grant Program

Date: October 2021
Amount: $600,000

Amateur Radio Digital Communications (ARDC) and the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) both recognize the importance of amateur radio clubs, and feel that it is in the best interest of amateur radio to encourage and support clubs at all levels. Clubs, for example, play a big role in recruiting and training new amateur radio operators. Even more important, without the leadership, training, and organization of a club, it would be less likely for an amateur radio relief and support effort to be successful in the event of a disaster.

In recent years, a number of factors–not the least of which are the COVID-related restrictions experienced over the last year and a half–have led to a decrease in amateur radio club membership. This, in turn, has reduced club income from dues and other fund-raising activities, and often clubs have had to cut back on their activities. For clubs to continue to provide and expand leadership opportunities and all of the other important services, financial support is needed.

To meet this need, ARDC is granting $600,000 to the ARRL Foundation create a club-specific grant program. This program will accept grant applications from amateur radio clubs–both affiliated and non-affiliated with ARRL–in amounts of up to $25,000. Grant applications exceeding $25,000 will be referred to ARDC’s Grants Advisory Committee for consideration.
