Grant: KCARC Club Revitalization, Experimentation and Growth

Date: September 2022 <br>
Amount: $5,360

The Kay County Amateur Radio Club is located in Ponca City, OK and services Kay County in north-central Oklahoma. The club has existed for over 50 years and has a very positive relationship with the local community and emergency services organizations. With this grant, the club plans to:

  • Offer greater service to the local emergency service agencies by developing a portable club station that can be rapidly deployed to provide VHF/UHF communications in emergency situations. Additionally, the club will assemble a portable HF station package that will allow members to hold classes, participate in POTA and GOTA activities, demonstrate digital modes and demonstrate many other facets of the amateur radio hobby.
  • Establish club training programs to attract both new hams and current hams. These programs will include classes, training materials, and hands-on kits that will enable the participants to feel the excitement of experimentation and circuit building.
  • Develop experimental capabilities. This would include digital, EME, satellite and upper UHF spectrum experiments.
