The University of Arizona Amateur Radio Club K7UAZ has been active for more than 50 years, with students from both STEM and liberal arts programs as well as community members. The club volunteers to provide emergency communications and communications for events and encourages participation and interaction among the various amateur radio clubs in Southern Arizona.
This grant will allow the club to purchase new digital communications equipment in service of a vigorous outreach and education plan. New club members are particularly drawn to digital modes. Using these modes enables the club to teach the concept of information and frequency bandwidth in a highly effective manner. The K7UAZ training procedures are freely available on their website and encourages others to implement them.
